For people like us who still are unsure about how many years we will be able to live, here was
this Baba who is believed to have lived for nearly about freaking 900 years. But for a matter
of the fact that it is nearly impossible for anyone to live for about a thousand years, there have
been many speculations regarding it. The human body is mortal, and with no solid records of
his existence, it becomes really matter to believe on. But because there have been a lot of
talks by the people of that village and from decades or even more about his existence for at
least about 250 years or even have hit a half century.
A Yogi Saint called Devraha Baba, or Deoraha Baba actually survived for 900 years. He was popularly called as 'ageless Yogi with a secular image'. Though he had taken samadhi in the year 1990, his powers and life are still a very popular and much-discussed topic. While some say, these rumors are baseless others claim that the mighty saint had miraculous powers and that he had been living since the time of Rajas and Maharajas. His disciples included Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Indira Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lalu Prasad Yadav. Though the excerpts look fascinating and never heard before, the Baba was stronger than the people say him to be.

Devraha Baba also known as Deoraha Baba is supposedly believed to have lived a life longer than our five generations together lived, seriously not joking. How many then if not 500? Add another 400 years to it. I know bringing math is not a good idea but 900 years is a lot. It is said that Devraha Baba did not have a normal biological birth from his mother's womb but came out from the river Yamuna.
A life that one cannot imagine.
According to the people of the village living nearby, claim that his life had been a very big one. He was famous for his talents that included staying under water for 30 minutes or even more. From meeting the leaders worldwide and giving them his special 'arshirwad', he is said to be a genius in predictions and that he predicted his own death also. Despite having a lot of talents and powers, he lived a pretty simple life.
His life was simple and lived on machans.
The presence of Devraha Baba is recorded on 12 major holidays of Kumbh Mela in India, held after every 12 years. The lawyer of the Allahabad Supreme Court found that seven generations of his family were sitting at the feet of Devraha Baba. He lived in a temporary hut of pine boards, which was built for him everywhere, wherever he went. Sometimes he also lived in log homes. Despite the fact that he is very strict and does not allow any of the students to touch himself, sometimes he starts talking about divine love.
He was devoted to yoga.

Devarah Baba's birth is unknown. Even their exact age is not even assessed. He was a resident of Deoria district of UP and sacrificed his life on Yogini Ekadashi. It is said that he lived for nearly 900 years.
An eternal and ageless Yogi.
Having been blessed with some powers and talents, Baba is also one of the greatest Yogis in Indian history, the eleventh in the transmission line from Sri Ramanujacharya (the holy philosopher from the south and the founder of Vaisnavism) and one of his most distinguished disciples. During his lifetime the elder was very fond of cows and took care of them. He said that the cow is the only creature whose urine and manure have medicinal properties. The last words of the master were: "Save the cows."
He asked Indira Gandhi to visit him ahead of elections.
His connection with Indira Gandhi is rather interesting. Ahead of elections after the emergency was declared, Baba had asked her to visit him once, but she could not make it. When Indira Gandhi lost her election in the country, she then went to take blessings from Devarah Baba. He blessed her with the paws of his hand. It is said that after coming back from there, Indira set Congress's election symbol claw. After this, under the leadership of Indira in 1980, the Indian National Congress gained a huge majority, and she became the Prime Minister of the country.
Dr Rajendra Prasad once said he is a living proof of Baba's age.
The first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad is the proof of the great age of the Yogi. He said that he personally proves that the Yogi was at least 150 years old. At the age of 73, he said that when he was a little boy when his father had sent him to Baba who was already an advanced man of that time, and that he was at that time too called Baba.
He has been greeted by many influential people.
From Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to international leaders, Devraha Baba was a guiding force to many. Baba used to know about the mind of the devotees without knowing it.
He was known for his way of blessing people
According to the devotees' statement, Baba used to meet with great love to every person who came near him and would give some offerings to everyone. Baba used to keep his hand in the empty part of the scaffolding to give the offerings and fruits, fruits or some other food used to come in his hands, but there was no such thing on the scaffold.
He did not have food.
He understood the language of animals and used to capture dangerous wild animals at the moment. They say that he did not eat food his whole life. Drinking milk and honey gave him life. He was very much fond of the juice of Shrifal. He said in a talk with a reporter that he does not wear anything except the skin of a deer.
On being asked about how he survived so far.
We cannot determine the age of the Yogi, but one thing that is positive that he had aged a lot and that getting to a number would be impossible. On being asked about his age, he said that Kachari Mudra was what he was practicing since long and that lead to his such age number. Devraha Baba had the accomplishment on Kachari mudra which led to his control of hunger and age.
His samadhi rests in Vrindavan.
The white monument that you see across River Yamuna is the sacred samadhi of Devraha Baba. An ashram name after him is a well-known place for people who come to his samadhi.
A person that shocked everyone!
Baba's life happens to be a mystery still unknown and that everyone has their own versions to say. Though he left his mortal body a long ago, his disciples are spreading a word about him. He is people's belief, and to them, they were an incarnation of God.
